BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- Bangor's much-anticipated summer concert series kicked off Thursday night on the city's waterfront. Yet the event did draw complaints from some residents in the area.
Thursday night's show featured Motley Crue and Hinder. The two bands easily performed to what was hundreds of ticket holders but a number of people outside the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion say they also heard the music.
The Bangor Police Department easily took about two dozen calls from folks complaining about the noise.
"I know we took complaints from mostly this east side of town and around the venue," said Sgt. Paul Edwards, "We got some calls from Brewer also. All of those calls...we look at those...the location of the calls and then we look at ways to try to minimize that."
The city's parks and recreation department did do sound studies during the concert. Officials say they will be working hard to find ways to reduce the noise output for future shows. The next concert will be on June 20, 2013 when Sting takes to the waterfront stage.
