AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Legislature's Judiciary Committee today voted against three bills that would tighten restrictions on abortion.

The votes were mainly along party lines, with Democrats opposing the bills and Republicans supporting them.

One of the bills would require that a woman be given specific information before having an abortion; another would require a parent or guardian's written consent before a minor could have an abortion; and the third would allow a wrongful death lawsuit after the death of a viable fetus.
