NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- One young teen from New Gloucester is hiking the entire Appalachian Trail with her father to end hunger in her community.
They started their journey on March 21st with the intention of hiking a total of 2,284 miles from Georgia to Maine to bring awareness to the growing issue of hunger. Kylie Trawick has partnered with her school, Gray-New Gloucester Middle School, and the local food bank of New Gloucester. Her goal is to raise a pound of food for every mile she hikes.
Kylie's mother Joyce stopped by the studio to talk about the "Hike for Hunger Fashion Show" happening on Sunday that will help her daughter's cause. It takes place from 2:00-5:00pm at First Congregation Church at 19 Church Road in New Gloucester.
