WATERBORO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Dozens of bikers braved the wet weather Saturday for a charity ride to fight breast cancer.
For the 4th year, people rode through Waterboro, Lyman, Buxton and Hollis to raise money for local women battling breast cancer. Organizers say since the first ride, the community support has grown, and it shows how much people in the region care about their neighbors. The organizers give the money raised directly to women with breast cancer in their community. Last year they raised more than six thousand dollars.
"The people we're able to donate to, they come, and we're able to hand them that check and see the gratitude that they have for that," organizer Anne-Marie Swasey said. "And knowing that it's going to put food on the table, or take care of children, it just keeps it local so, it just makes you feel more warmhearted."
The ride had relatively low turnout this year because of the weather, so the organization is still looking for donations. You can contact the organizers through their Facebook page by clickling here.
