BAR HARBOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Four adults and a juvenile are charged with burglary and aggravated mischief after allegedly vandalizing Mount Desert Island High School.
Police in Bar Harbor several people entered the locked building and dumped approximately 25 gallons of lobster bait throughout the first floor of the school. According to Bar Harbor Police Chief, Nate Young, the students were attempting to carry out a "senior prank".
Principal Matthew Janger says the liquid from the bait went under doors and seeped into carpeting.
MDI cancelled classes for the day. Late Friday morning, the school posted that school events will resume after 2:15pm.
Investigators say with the cooperation of the Mount Desert Police Department, the Southwest Harbor Police Department and State Police, five persons of interest were located and arrested. The four adults, Jeremiah Minctons, 19; Drew Degraca, 18; Baily Stillman, 18 and Benjamin Wallace, 19 -- are all seniors at the school. According to school officials, the student involved has been suspended until furthur notice.
All were bailed out Friday morning. The four adults are scheduled to be in Superior Court on July 25.
Since classes were cancelled today, MDI High School's last day of finals has now been pushed back to June 13.
