PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- For the 27th year, the city of Portland held a Pride Day parade and festival to celebrate Southern Maine's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

The parade route began in Monument Square and ended at the festival location in Deeing Oaks park.

Grand marshals were Portland Mayor Michael Brennan, Portland Police Chief Michael Sauschuck, the first openly gay inaugural poet, Richard Blanco, and the first same-sex couple to be married in Maine, Steven Bridges and Michael Snell.

The theme of this year's Southern Maine Pride Day was "Marry ME," and 10 couples exchanged vows in Maine's first mass same-sex wedding.
