LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Maine musicians showed their support for victims of the Lewiston fires.
It has been a little more than one month since a string of arson fires destroyed several buildings in downtown Lewiston. Six local music acts played in "Giving Hearts," a benefit concert in Simard-Payne Park.
Two local residents separately got the idea to raise money for the fire victims with a concert. The City of Lewiston connected John Hicks and Katie Wing, and together, they planned the benefit. Both organizers hope the event will remind people that the victims still need help.
"It was a little over a month ago so it's kind of not fresh in people's minds," Hicks said. "This is a way to get it there . They still need help, still need to raise some money."
Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Lewiston Fire Relief Fund.
