AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - An Augusta martial arts instructor who's already admitted he produced and possessed child pornography has refused to acknowledge new charges against him.
Wade Robert Hoover argued with the judge at his arraignment Tuesday, saying false information about his case keeps appearing the media. The judge then ordered him removed from the courtroom.
The 35-year-old Hoover was later returned to courtroom, but his attorney said Hoover did not wish to acknowledge the new charges, which accuse him of 12 instances of gross sexual assault on a young boy.
Hoover is awaiting July 2 sentencing on the federal child pornography charges. Hoover said in a letter to the media that he deserves to be punished on those charges. But he said he never was accused of inappropriate behavior in his 20 years as a martial arts instructor.
