SKOWHEGAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- If you're looking to satisfy a sweet tooth you might not think of going to a pizza shop. But if it's a whoopie pie you're looking for then, there's at least two pizza shops you would not want to pass by. One's in Waterville, the other's in Skowhegan.

Al's Pizza's whoopie pies won the people choice award at the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival. It has won competitions in 3 of the 4 years the festival has run. Chad Partridge and his sister Marsha Toth are the co-owners who bought the business from their parents.

They say they have 2 people on staff that just make whoopie pies. Marsha estimates they bake 50 thousand pies a year. They have traditional whoopie pies, peanut butter and Blueberry.

Chad says they won the traditional whoopie pie competition on 2011. And this is the 2nd time they won the People's choice award.

Partridge said,"It started out something locally that we were known for. And when they started this festival a few years ago, we said let's go over there. That sounds like a good time. And we've found that not only do the people in Skowhegan love them but people all over the state love them."

The Best Traditional Whoopie Pie award went to Cupcakes, Etc. Of Guilford. The award winning Whoopie pies featured here can only be purchased at Al's Pizza in Skowhegan and their other store Cappza's Pizza in Waterville.
