BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Bangor is not only getting ready for its 4th of July festivities -- but for the influx of people planning to come for tonight's Phish concert at Darling's Pavilion... that could make parking a challenge.
On Main Street, not far from the I-95 off ramp where people coming into Bangor would normally get off to come to the waterfront... there is limited parking. Demolition at the Bangor Auditorium is taking up space, so police are asking people to park in the Pickering Square Parking garage.
There are business along the way that offer parking. Police are urging those business owners who offer parking to post signage urging people to be out of their lots by 7:00 AM If they don't want people parking there for extended periods of time.
Portions of Main, State, and Exchange Streets will be closed Thursday morning at 10:00 AM in advance of the parade which starts at 11:00 AM.
Cars left on Maine, State, and Exchange streets will be towed.
The 16,000 seat pavilion is expected to be full for tonight's concert, but police say typically two to three times that many show up without tickets and hang out around the venue -- and those fans tend to arrive early and stay late.
Police are expecting some overlap between the Phish fans and the thousands more who come for the Independence Day parade.
