BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- For 5 years now people from Maine, Canada and all over New England have been taking a chance at Hollywood Casino in downtown Bangor.
Casino officials marked the 5th anniversary this morning. Hollywood Casino General Manager John Osborne says even with the addition of the Oxford Casino Hollywood Casino took in 63 million dollars in 2012 from its games.
That figure was helped with the addition of 11 table games and 5 poker tables that were added in March last year. He says the casino also added nearly 100 new jobs putting it above 400 employees.
Osborne says the relationship with the city of Bangor is working so well it's benefiting the area as a whole. "The city manager and council have been great stewards of the taxes they receive from Hollywood Casino." Osborne said," So, the money has gone into investments along the waterfront as well as the Cross Insurance Center across the street from the casino. Those investments we believe have become foundations for secondary growth in the area. "
Osborne also says he expects the addition of the Cross Insurance Center and another hotel across the street to only drive more business to the entire Bangor region.
