BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Hospitals rely heavily on help from their volunteers and Eastern Maine Medical Center has announced that it will be looking for more people to volunteer their time as they look towards a multi-year modernization project.
In a few months the hospital will be renovating it's entire main entrance with several reroutes through out the process. To accommodate visitors during construction, the hospital is looking for around 30 more volunteers to welcome patients and visitors and help people find their way around the hospital. There are also several benefits for hospital volunteers including free use of EMMC's fitness center, free flu shots, discounts at the hospital's pharmacy and more. According to the director of volunteer services, Martha Wildman, volunteering is a rewarding way to build new friendships while making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients.
"Things are going to be changing on a weekly basis and our volunteers can really help people move during the changes and all the exciting construction that's going on," said
