OXFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Traffic came to a halt on Route 26 in Oxford Thursday night.

Thousands of people turned out for a raffle giveaway that brought The Oxford Casino to its maximum capacity.

"Our capacity is twenty six hundred thirty five," says the Public Relations Manager for the Oxford Casino.

"This is extraordinary."

Matthew Rich showed up 3 hours ahead of the drawings.

"Everybody is just waiting. You can't go inside in wait but at least out here it's a little cooler."

Glen Stowell walked up to the casino to listen for his ticket numbers, because his family couldn't get beyond police who were barricading cars from the casino's entrance.

"I came up with my wife and my mother in law and she's disabled so we couldn't get in."

Alice Greenleaf and her husband drove just shy of two hours for their shot at the big red prize.

"It's fine. Now we just wait for everyone to clear out so we can go inside and play," says Greenleaf. "I probably would have sold it for the money."
