PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- When news broke Wednesday morning that Boston bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, would be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine's August edition, social media became very active.

The magazine hit stands Wednesday, but it's not the article that's causing an emotional reaction. It's the cover photo. Some are outraged, saying the photo makes Tsarnaev look like a rockstar, and that the honor of the cover is reserved for well-deserved stars, not (alleged) terrorists.

Rolling Stone released a statement saying while it is saddened by the bombing and feels for the victims, the editors believe this article looks at the events leading up to the bombing. It says, in part, "The fact that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is young, and in the same age group as many of our readers, makes it all the more important for us to examine the complexities of this issue and gain a more complete understanding of how a tragedy like this happens."

Shaw's Supermarkets, Tedeschi food stores, and CVS stores have all banned the magazine from their shelves.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino says he is disgusted that Rolling Stone would have Tsarnaev on the cover. In summary, he says the bombing victims deserved the honor more, but since the magazine disgraced itself this way, the victims deserve to be on a more honorable magazine.
