BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- While the hot weather may seem unbearable at times, some businesses say they can't get enough of it. NEWS CENTER's Johnny Mehler was at Gifford's ice cream in Bangor Wednesday -- because, let's face it -- he wanted a cool treat, too.
You scream, I scream....well, lately, everyone has been screaming for ice cream.
"The last few days have been insane we don't stop we come into work we barely have time to punch in and there's a line pretty much wrapped around the building," said Gifford's shift leader Elisha Lizotte.
All thanks to this stretch of sweltering weather.
"It's been pretty hot but luckily we had this nice ice cream to cool us down."
"We came here twice in the last two days three days just to get ice cream and cool down."
"Ice cream can never hurt."
Those were just a few customer reactions. Giffords Ice Cream on Broadway is always busy during the summer, but this week business has heated up.
"Right now the back freezer is extremely low and we have a couple that are empty in there so we are running extremely low on flavors but we will be stocked back up tomorrow," said Lizotte.
Left and right employees are making banana splits, milk shakes, and the ever popular... flavor of the week.
"This week its peanut butter caramel cookie dough so we've been going through that like crazy," said Lizotte.
"I've never had blueberry ice cream so I wanted to come out here and try it," said Sam Solomon.
And as you could image, a long day of scooping can take a toll on those elbows
You go home and you're a little sore and the next morning you're a little bit sore but you push through it and just scoop ice cream," said Lizotte.
A tasty way to beat the heat.
