BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The man accused of robbing the Bangor Savings Bank on State Street in Bangor, went before a judge for the first time Friday afternoon.
Percy Cartwright, 66, of Bangor made his first court appearance by video conference at the Penobscot Judicial Center. He is being charged with Class B Robbery.
According to court document's, a bank teller at the Bangor Saving's Bank told police Cartwright had entered the bank where he had an existing account demanding that she give him all the money. A total of $863.00 was then handed over. Cartwright was later arrested at Dorothea Dix Phsyciatric Center.
A judge Friday set bail at $5,000 cash with the condition that he not go to the bank's location.
If found guilty, Cartwright faces up to 10 years in prison. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 10th.
