BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- An annual summertime tradition is returning to the Queen City. The Bangor State Fair kicks off tomorrow, and crews are hard at work getting the fairgrounds near the Cross Insurance Center ready for the crowds.
Gates open at 2 PM, and tickets are $12 for unlimited access to the fair grounds and the rides. This year, a $7 grounds only ticket will also be available for purchase, so those who don't want to go on any rides can enjoy the fair as well.
"Some parents just have all they can do to keep track of the kids, and they're not going to be going on the rides themselves," said Mike Dyer, General Manager of the Cross Insurance Center. "So we wanted to make it a little easier for them to come out to the fair."
Along with the rides, this year's fair will also include a demolition derby and a lobster roll eating contest.
Parking for the event is available on Dutton Street, Buck Street and the on the infield grounds.
