AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A former police officer turned businessman is traveling the country on his motorcycle raising money for the families of fallen police officers.
Today he made a stop in Maine at the police officers memorial in Augusta where the names of 83 fallen officers are engraved. The only time Harry Herrington rides his motorcycle these days it's for something he is very passionate about. Raising awareness and money. Awareness about the dangers of police work. Money for the family members left behind when an officer is killed.
"Family members were so grateful, they say people tend to forget us after the news dies down, after the casseroles get cold. People tend to forget we went through a very public loss", said Herrington.
The Ride 4 Cops event raised about 34-hundred dollars for Maine families of fallen officers.
