BUCKSPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--More than a dozen people Monday are having to start over and rebuild their lives after a massive fire at a 12 unit apartment unit in Bucksport yesterday.
The fire started at the Main Street apartment house Sunday afternoon. The Red Cross is providing housing for several of the displaced tenants at the Spring Fountain Motel in Bucksport. Several tenants say they lost everything but are grateful that everyone got out alive. Some pets were lost in the fire others are still missing. Holly Macomber says her 2 cats are missing after the fire and she fears the worst.
Fire investigators say they have determined the point of origin as a first floor bedroom but they will be bringing in a electrical inspector on Wednesday to help determine the cause. If you would like to help out the victims of the Bucksport fire you can contact the Red Cross at 941-2903 or you can find them on the web at MaineRedCross.org.
