BUXTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - This weekend some horses famous for their history, and their stunts, are lending their talents to a good cause.
Hermann's Original Lipizzan Stallions of Austria are spending the week getting warmed up at Hearts and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Buxton. This weekend, they're putting on 4 shows as a benefit to the center.
The horses are one of the rarest breeds in the world, once bred for the exclusive use of the Hapsburg Royal Family of Austria.
At this weekend's Lipizzan shows, you can come right up and touch the horses, even get a professional photo taken with one.
"It's an amazing opportunity for all horse people because, like I said, usually they're in a civic center and you see them perform, but you don't actually get to see them in their presence and touch them and know their actual size", said Stephanie Keene, organizer of the benefit.
The shows for this weekend's benefit will be indoors at the Hearts and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Buxton.
Show times are Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 2pm and 6pm, and Sunday at 1pm. Advance tickets are 15 dollars, and you can get them by calling 929-4700. For more information visit the Hearts N Horses website.
