BUCKSPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Students are grieving the tragic death of one of their own. 15-year-old Taylor Darveau was killed Thursday night in a car accident on the Bucksmills Road in Bucksport.
The accident happened around 6:20pm on the Bucksmills Road in Bucksport. The 1999 Subaru station wagon was driven by 16-year-old Samantha Goode of Bucksport. According to police the vehicle was traveling north when it left the road and struck a tree. The crash is still under investigation with a cause not yet determined.
Friends of Darveau returned to the scene of the accident Friday morning to make a roadside memorial for the Bucksport Freshman. They hung balloons, laid flowers and left hand written messages at the base of the tree where Darveau was killed.
"I still don't believe it," said Bucksport Senior, Taylor Staples. "It's not going to catch up anytime soon that she's gone."
Grief Councilors will be made available at Bucksport High School on Saturday from 9am-Noon. The school's Friday night soccer and football games have been postponed until Saturday.
