SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - York County Sheriff's Office says two Sanford students were issued summons after a sex toy was delivered to the Athletic Director's door at Massabesic School on Saturday. This was after the Massabesic v. Sanford football game was postponed due to a rumored threat on Friday.
Officials say on Saturday morning at roughly 7AM, Massabesic School Officials discovered a suspicious package wrapped in Christmas gift wrap outside of the Athletic Director's door. The package said "To Massabesic from Sanford."
After York County Sheriff's Office and the sheriff's deputies took possession of the package, it was determined that the package was a sex toy and, officials say, the accompanying note described what Massabesic could do with it.
A joint investigation with Sanford School Resource Officer, and Massabesic School Officials, led to the summons of two Sanford students - one a juvenile and one an adult. Both suspects are seniors and attend Sanford High School.
The suspects were both issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct, a class E misdemeanor. The adult, 18-year-old Isaac Sweeney, of Springvale, has a court date of February 25, 2014.
Officials say both expressed remorse over the incident that they initially viewed as an innocent prank. Neither suspect realized their prank would escalate to the level of a police investigation.
Sweeney and the juvenile also face sanctions from Sanford School Officials.
