AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A former Maine special education teacher has pleaded not guilty to federal child pornography charges.

Patrik Arsenault, 27, from Norridgewock, who also faces state charges, was ordered held without bail after his arraignment last week in U.S. District Court in Bangor.

Authorities said Arsenault, who was a special education teacher for two years in Wayne, was indicted by a federal grand jury earlier this month on six child pornography charges related to two boys.

Arsenault has been in state custody since August on charges he sexually assaulted the boys, ages 6 and 7.

Defense attorney Donald Brown said he expects the federal case to be heard before the state charges.

State investigators had previously said they found recordings of the alleged assaults at the suspect's home.
