SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - State police investigators say an Oakland man who was run over and killed by his own logging truck had left the vehicle in neutral before getting out at a Skowhegan restaurant.
The investigation into Monday's accident also found that the parking brake on the 60,000-pound truck had not been engaged.
Police said 59-year-old Michael Morin parked the truck and was walking toward the Pizza Hut restaurant when the vehicle lurched forward and ran over him. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The truck rolled into the building but no one else was injured.
State police said the investigation found no serious mechanical problems with the truck.
Morin's brother, Francis, told the Morning Sentinel that Michael Morin was a "good man" and a "true lumberman."
