ALFRED, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A man from Arundel was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison for the death of his infant son.
Gordon Collins-Faunce admitted to police couldn't handle the child's crying. He told investigators he nearly crushed his son's head by squeezing it, then threw the child into a chair. 10 Week old Ethan Henderson died a few days later at the hospital.
Collins-Faunce was himself abused and neglected as a child before being adopted. His adoptive mother urged the judge to have mercy on her son.
"No child deserves the hell that was Gordon's first eight years of life", said Jan Collins.
The prosecutor told the judge the situation was a bad from the start with neither parent equipped to raise the children in the home.
"It was a disaster. He has clear anger issues and had no capacity to deal with them", said Assistant Attorney General Lisa Marchese.
When Collins Faunce is released from prison he will spend the next 14 years on probation. During that time is to have no contact with his other child, Ethan Henderson's twin brother Lucas.
