PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Transportation research group TRIP has released a report that ranks the top 50 transportation challenges in Maine.
At the top of the list: reconstruction of Route 3 in Bar Harbor. Among other items in the top 10: reconstruction Route 302 in the Portland area, and constructing the approach to the International Bridge at Fort Kent.
In a press conference, Maine State Chamber of Commerce President Dana Connors said the report explains why he supports Question #3, a transportation bond question on the ballot.
Question 3 asks Mainers to approve $100 million in borrowed money to access $154 million in matching funds.
According to Maine DOT, the bond money would fund the department's proposed Work Plan, with $76 million designated for highway and bridge projects statewide.
Maine DOT repoorts an annual funding shortfall of about $110 million per year.
