AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Gov. Paul LePage is gearing up to formally announce that he's seeking another term as Maine governor.
Tuesday night's event at Buker Community Center in Augusta to officially launch the Republican governor's bid for another four years in the Blaine House is being held a year to the day before the 2014 election.
LePage's campaign says that among those speaking at the event is a Democratic voter supporting LePage this election and Chairman of the Maine Republican Party Rick Bennett.
LePage is being challenged by Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, who announced Monday that he is gay following what he called a "whisper campaign" by political opponents hoping to weaken his bid.
Independent candidate Eliot Culter, who lost a tight race to LePage in 2010, is also seeking the seat.
