SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Printing and binding your own book can be as easy as making a cup of coffee.
That's the concept behind a new service at the South Portland Books-A-Million: the Espresso Book Machine.
Customers can now access an inventory of seven million titles that are no longer in print, and have them made and bound on the spot.
They can also self-publish. Simply provide PDF files of the desired text pages and cover, and the EBM can create a unique paperback book.
The name comes from the idea that you can print a book in the time it takes to make a cup of coffee: about ten minutes.
Staff at the South Portland BAM says prices are comparable to regular paperback books, running between $8 and $24.
The machine is open for use every day from noon until 6 p.m.
