PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Starting next spring, both Maine and Nova Scotia officials are hoping to once again have ferry service running between the cities of Yarmouth and Portland.

Details are being finalized on how and where the ferry will dock at the Ocean Gateway terminal, but officials have determined that the $165-million dollar ship will run 24-hour service each day between May 1st and November 2nd.

Governor Paul LePage helped make the official announcement at the Ocean Gateway Terminal Monday afternoon.

The ferry service will be called "Nova Star Cruises" and unlike just a normal ferry, this so-called cruise has all of the amenities, including 3 restaurants, a casino, a theater, and a spa.

Officials from both Portland and Yarmouth are hoping this new service will spark new interest the former CAT just couldn't keep when it stopped service in 2009.

Here are the departure times so you can plan:
Nova Star will leave Portland each night at 8 and arrive in Yarmouth at 7 the next morning, an 11 hour trip; it will then depart from Yarmouth at 9am and arrive in Portland at 5pm, just an 8 hour trip.
