AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine restaurants are teaming up with a church to put together a free Thanksgiving meal for those in need.
The community dinner will be held at The Red Barn in Augusta from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The United Methodist Church in Augusta has hosted a free Thanksgiving meal for decades. This year, the church partnered with local restaurants to host the dinner together.
Rev. Thom Blackstone tells the Kennebec Journal that they needed a bigger venue because it was becoming difficult to fit everyone in the church.
Organizers say all Augusta residents are welcome, but the meal is intended for people who can't provide a meal for themselves or will be alone on Thanksgiving.
Organizers are expecting between 500 and 600 people to attend.
