TREMONT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Cap'n Nemos was the seafood restaurant in Bass Harbor known for it's good food and friendly atmosphere. When the restaurant burned to the ground Wednesday, the community there sprung into action to help out the owners who also lived above the restaurant.
Nemos was Completely destroyed to the point that investigators have been unable to determine a cause. The restaurant was a staple in the community, which is why several have rallied together to raise money for owners Bob and Judy Cousins. An online fundraiser has raised more than $15,000 in less than a week for the family.
"It's supporting the cousins family as part of our own, but also the community is supporting each other," said Jill Recla, who is one of many helping to raise money for the Cousins.
It's support like hers that has influenced the family to rebuild according to the owner's daughter, Cassiar O'Neill.
"We're going to make it bigger, better, and stronger," said O'Neill.
There will be a fundraising event with live bands, a chinese auction and raffle Saturday December 21st from Noon to 10PM at The American Legion Hall in Southwest Harbor to raise money for Cap'n Nemos and the Cousins family.
