BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- When the temperatures have a hard time reaching the single digits, heating oil tanks have a hard time staying full. Homes go through gallon after gallon of heating oil this time of year, which causes a head ache for oil companies trying to keep up with demand.
The Dead River Company in Brewer has been receiving around 4,000 calls a week from customers in need of heating oil. To keep up with that demand, it's been sending around 20 trucks out a day, making around 900 deliveries Friday.
"They didn't see it coming, so you couldn't have put on enough people for this I don't think," said Dead River driver Jeff Jamison during one of his delivery stops Saturday.
According to Dead River Company Manager, Scott Gray, there are still several more customers he wishes he could get to at a faster rate.
"We're able to keep up with it, but we're not getting to some of the folks as quickly as we would like, but we're working around the clock to try to meet everybody's needs," said Gray.
It's also important to remember to keep a clear path to your heating oil tanks after a snow storm to make sure oil deliveries go as safely and quickly as possible.
