AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Democratic challenger Mike Michaud has the fundraising edge so far over the other major candidates in the Maine governor's race.
According to campaign finance reports filed Wednesday, Michaud raised nearly $700,000 in the latest reporting period that ended Dec. 31, and has now raised more than $1 million overall.
Incumbent Republican Gov. Paul LePage has raised almost $719,000 overall, including more than $373,000 in the past six months.
Independent candidate Eliot Cutler has raised more than $945,000 so far.
The numbers do not include money spent by outside special interest groups.
Michaud and Cutler have spent more on their campaign operations than LePage.
