BAR HARBOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Ten days. That's how long Gary Allen has to run from Maine to New Jersey for Super Bowl 48. Not because he's a fan of either the Broncos or the Seahawks, but to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.
It's the second year that Allen has made a trip to raise money for soldiers who have been hurt serving their country. He started his 500 mile trek this morning, leaving at sun up from Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.
"If you're going to do an epic run to raise money for our troops than you should probably start in an epic place," said Allen.
The temperature at 7AM when he left from the summit, felt like 20 below zero with the wind chill. The only thing on his mind though, was the cause of helping soldiers in need.
"This is nothing compared to what our troops go through, so if me running for a couple days helps them, that's all good," said Allen.
