ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Coming off a 4-2 win over New Hampshire Saturday night, The Maine Black Bears were back on the ice for the third day in row, but this time it wasn't for a hockey game.
The Black Bears held their "Skate with the Bears Day" at Alfond Arena Sunday afternoon. Both the men's and women's teams were out on the ice joining their fans for a skating session. It was a huge turnout full of excitement to be skating on the same rink as the hockey players.
Those players took pictures and signed autographs on a day where they look forward to giving back to their fan base.
"It's nice to give back and meet our fans face-to-face. It's so great to play for this program because of the fan support every night. Last night this place was packed. There's so many people who come up and parents are like, "Oh my son plays this position, their goal is to come play for Maine," and stuff so it's awesome to see them look up to us and and just cherish it like we did when we were little," said Black Bear Captain Brice O'Connor.
