The driver, 18-year-old Logan Burnell of Denmark, was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty when he lost control of the vehicle while driving on an area of drifting snow. The SUV crossed lanes of traffic and hit a tree head-on.
First-responders closed Stanley Hill Road for more than an hour after the accident to extricate Burnell. He was transported to Bridgton Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. He is in stable condition.
Detective Sergeant Joshua Potvin said Burnell was driving too fast for the road conditions.
"The operator is extremely fortunate that he was not more seriously injured. We wish him a speedy recovery," Sgt. Potvin said. "Drivers are urged to use caution when driving and could find areas of unexpected snow drifts across the roadway due to high winds."
