BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- A Bangor man has now been convicted of manslaughter for killing a woman he lived with last year.
50-year-old David Coon broke down in court on Wednesday as he plead guilty for causing the death of Sherry Clifford. Clifford died inside the couple's Bangor apartment on Jefferson Street back in May of 2013. This came after the two of them got into some kind of fight.
The state argued Coon killed his girlfriend by strangling her to death. Attorneys for the defense say Clifford's death was accidental claiming she was drunk at the time of the altercation and became violent with Coon after demanding more alcohol.
Coon will face sentencing in the coming months.
