BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- University of Maine women's basketball head coach Richard Barron sported a new look during his team's 2nd Annual Play4Kay game to raise breast cancer awareness.

He dyed his hair pink.

He set a goal to raise $10,000 before the start of Sunday's game in order to do so, and that goal was met.

The foundation, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, is in honor of Kay Yow, the former NC State women's basketball coach who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2009.

After the game, another promise was fulfilled, and Coach Barron said goodbye to the pink locks.
