In February, it took a jury just three hours to convict Steven Clark of murder in the death of his friend and former co-worker Robert Wagner.
Clark admitted on the stand that he shot Wagner after Wagner had lunged at him with a steak knife. Clark said he shot Wagner a second time because he didn't want to see Wagner suffer.
But the jury didn't believe him.
Prosecutors argued Clark lied to cover up the murder. First he told police he didn't know where his friend was after Wagner was reported missing. Then he asked his father and brother for help in burying Wagner's body behind his father's house in West Baldwin.
Monday morning, the judge in the case sentenced Clark to 43 years in prison.
