Police say Phillip Peters, and Linda and David Farnham were killed. All three lived in Boothbay.
Police say Peters was driving south on Route 27 when he crossed the center line and hit the Franham's SUV head on.
Linda Farnham, 63, and David Farnham, 65, died at the scene. Peters, who was 33, was transported to Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators still don't know what caused Peters to swerve across the road.
"We don't have exact reasons why it occurred. However, from everything we know, it does appear it has the potential to be alcohol involved, but we don't know that," said Maj. Ken Mason from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Dept.
Major Mason says it may be several weeks before investigators get the lab results.
