Kathleen Shannon is a veteran journalist with News Center. She hosts the newsmagazine program, "207" which airs weeknights at 7PM. She is also the station's Investigative Reporter. In 2012, she was honored with a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her reporting on Sexual Assault in the Military.
This is, as Kathleen puts it, her Second Tour of Duty with News Center. She anchored and reported here from 1995 to 1999 before moving to KSTP-TV in Minneapolis, where she worked from 1999 to August of 2003. She was also a field producer for five years at KNSD in San Diego.
Kathleen was born in Somerville, New Jersey but don't hold it against her or she'll get her Jersey on! She has lived all over the United States... but considers Maine her true home. She has a B.A. in Journalism and Politics from New York University. She lives in the Portland area with her husband, their rapidly growing twin boys and their overly affectionate Weimeraner dogs. She says they don't set out to do everything in pairs ... that's just the way things seem to happen in her family. She is an avid runner and yogi - both of which, she says, are pure stress relief and keep her sane. She also loves to flyfish and read historical fiction.
