Bangor area bank robbery suspect in custody has past bank robbery convictions

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Penobscot County Sheriffs Deputies and Orono Police arrested a man wanted for two bank robberies in the Bangor area. According to the Penobscot County District Attorney's office, 26 year old Troy Gay is now in custody facing two robbery charges and is expected to make his first court appearance Friday at 1:00 pm.

Gay has a criminal record that includes a 2009 conviction for bank robberies in Bangor and Howland. Under a plea agreement, he was sentenced to serve 3 and a half years of an 8 year sentence. The Penobscot County Sheriffs Department is holding a press conference at noon to offer more details about the current charges.
