CARIBOU, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A plan to build a new school in Caribou has cleared a big hurdle.
The National Park Service has agreed to swap out land within the city needed for construction.
Senator Susan Collins announced today that the park service has agreed to transfer ownership of a section of Teague Park to the city and RSU 39, so that a new school can be built on the site near the current elementary school.
Voters still have to approve building that new school.
Teague Park will get grants from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.
That's why the National Park Service was involved.
