(KXAS) - Kelsey Head, 7 years-old, is living with a rare skin disease. Her mom, Stacy, says it all started as a small spot near her eye.

"I just thought it was a little white spot from being in the sun, from being outside,? said Stacy Head. ?I didn't know it was going to travel over her body."

Vitiligo is not life-threatening nor is it contagious.

It just makes this seven-year old look a little bit different.

"My mom tells me that everybody has something that makes them different, but it's how you deal with it that make it significant," said Kelsey.

She wrote a poem so her second grade class mates would understand.

"This Vitiligo is mine you see and I am going to continue love being me!" said Kelsey.

And she's going one step further, organizing a garage sale to raise money.

If she can raise enough money, she can go to Florida to meet kids just like her.

Stacy says it's one more thing that will help her daughter realize that it's not the outside, but the inside that matters.
