Here's a workout that will put a smile on your face. It's happy yoga, showing that laughter can provide a powerful workout for the mind, body, and soul. Yoga instructor Jess McKneally has been teaching this particular style of yoga to the residents of Birchwoods Assisted Living Center. She says that inviting a bit of playfulness into the breath work and the movement just lights people.
As we age, something as simple as laughing is crucial. Happy yoga helps to combat any social isolation a person may be feeling.
"Some people have cognitive decline as they get older. This kind of activity allows them to play and laugh, even if they do not understand humor anymore."
You also have all the benefits of yoga helping to reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, and cardiac problems. So...smile!
