Each day becomes a little more meaningful and your life enhanced when your actions are guided by what inspires you. Exercise can help you discover what generates enthusiasm in your life. For Dolly Anagnostis, her inspiration came from a book in her book club, A Woman's Path, about the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage. "That was the first time I had ever heard about the Camino and I thought that sounds intriguing." At 66 years old, a pilgrimage across Europe was calling her name.
"I was in terrible shape physically. I had never exercised. My furthest walk was from my house to the driveway to get in the car. So this was a chance to increase my physical activity which I thought would be very healthy for my senior years."
Dolly started with basics walking 20 minutes a day. She also went to a nutritionist, changed the way she ate, and made goals on how to train for her adventure. At the end of August 2013 she flew to St. Jean Pied du Port France where her journey on the Camino began. There isn't a specific beginning or end to the Camino. In fact, many Europeans choose to start right from their doorsteps. Dolly spent two months walking 350 miles of the Camino. Living out of a backpack with a change of clothes and a rain coat.
This pilgrimage was an eye opening experience that is now inspiring the people around her. If you would like to talk to Dolly about her experience, e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org
