The first clinic is scheduled for today, October 28, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The second is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, also from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The clinics are open to students who attend public and private schools in Bangor, Brewer, Clifton, Orrington, Dedham, S.A.D 22 (Hampden, Newburgh, Winterport) S.A.D.63 (Eddington, Holden, Holbrook) R.S.U 14 (Hermon, Carmel, Levant) R.S.U 26 (Orono, Veazie, and Glenburn).
Students will recieve the H1N1 vaccination as well as the seasonal flu vaccine, free of charge at the clinics.
Parents must sign permission forms in order for their child to receive the vaccine. If a parent or guardian is not present, they must send a signed note with their child giving permission.
"Since the arrival of vaccine last Friday we've worked quickly with regional school superintendents and others in the community to organize these clinics," said Patty Hamilton, Public Health Director for the City of Bangor and BRIC Chair, in a written statement. "With H1N1 flu cases on the increase we felt it was important to begin vaccinating school age children as quickly as possible."
