(NBC) -- What are your bad habits? Do they include eating too much and not exercising enough? There is new technology that is helping people in California's bay area banish bad behavior. Kim Gudmundson works out harder than she used to. Her coach is trapped in her computer. Every day she receives motivational messages. They come from a new program called habit changer which also gets reminders on her PDA. "So for me it was to make sure I don't have moments of weakness to break down and put in more calories than I burned off that day," said Gudmundson. The program is designed to help you lose weight. So far 400 club one members in the bay area have tried it, and many like Carol Cech say so far so good. "I've lost a few pounds," said Cech. Habit Changer is designed to reprogram your brain, based on a concept developed at Stanford called neuro-plasticity. "You tell your brain to do something over and over again, you create a habit. We all do it. You brush your teeth in the morning, you do it over and over again, you create a habit to brush your teeth. The habit changer teaches you and supports you in creating new and better habits so you lose weight or you feel better," said the creator of the Habit Changer Larry Tobin. The main mantra from the habit changer is "habits can be created or broken in thirty days." In addition to losing weight you can also rely on the habit changer to send you text messages about ways to reduce your stress level. Texting you through tiny steps toward big progress, one message at a time. You can decide how many times a day you want to receive messages. The habit changer program costs $14.95 a month, and you don't have to be a club one member to sign up. Log on to www.habitchanger.com for more information.
