Four involved survive serious accident on Route 1

Four survive serious accident in Scarborough.

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: The identities of those involved have been released. According to Scarborough PD, Donald Goff, 38, crossed the dividing double line while traveling north on Route 1. Goff then struck a Chevy 3500 dump truck that was towing an excavator.

All people involved in the accident were transported for medical care.

  • 1 juvenile male

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --  Scarborough Police Department confirmed a serious crash with injuries shuts down both directions of Route one on Wednesday morning. 

According to police, the collision involved a pickup truck and a dump truck towing an excavator.  Four people were taken to Maine Med, three adults and one child with non-life threatening injuries.

The Scarborough Deputy Chief said the pickup truck ended up wrapped around an electrical pole.  "They are very lucky the electrical wires didn't get knocked down." said the Chief. 

According to Maine Police, Route 1 is closed from Cascade Rd. in Saco to Old Blue Point Rd. in Scarborough.

Police are asking that you seek alternative routes and avoid this area.
