Gardiner Police arrest Rite-Aid robbery suspect

GARDINER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Less than 12 hours after a Rite-Aid was robbed, Gardiner Police arrested a man believed to be responsible.

Jesse Mansir, of Gardiner, was arrested after a nine-hour manhunt. Police said Mansir entered Rite-Aid around 10:30 a.m. and went to the pharmacy area. He passed a handwritten note to one of the pharmacy technicians and demanded prescription drugs. Police also said he referenced to a firearm during the incident, but one was not displayed. After receiving the drugs, Mansir fled the store on foot.

Around 5 p.m., police believed he was hiding in a wooded area off of Harrison Ave. in Gardiner. A group of 15 law enforcement officials from the Gardiner Police Dept., the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office and Maine State Police, arrested Mansir in that area, without resistance, around 7:10 p.m. Thursday.

Mansir was charged with robbery and was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.

This was the third pharmacy robbery in the Augusta area this month.
